The downward facing dog is said to improve digestion and relieve insomnia. It can also provide some relief for those who are having menstrual cramps and lower back pain. Try it. It really works! The arms, legs and torso are also strengthened in the process of this pose. This yoga pose also gives a good stretch in the palms, chest, back, hamstrings, calves and feet.
