V Season 1, Episode 12

Last night I watched the season finale of V. As expected, the show ended with a cliffhanger. I know there’ll be a season 2. Valerie will finally give birth to her alien baby after she is captured by a V soldier. And Anna will kill Valerie after the child is born. Anna has Ryan under her thumb. She has plans for him. I wonder if Ryan will get brain washed by her to become a bad person in the fifth column. Erika uses her dinner opportunity with Anna to get into the ship to kill Anna’s soldier eggs. Lisa makes the decision to help the fifth column because she cares of Tyler who is human. Father Jack delivers a sermon in church that his senior priest is not happy with. He wants the people not to worship the Vs but only God. Anna is enraged that all her eggs are destroyed. Only 12 of the eggs survived. She pushes some button and the sky is filled with a lot of alien ships. The whole sky is red. Are they going to attack earth? What will Anna do? Will Ryan get brain washed? Will Jack leave the church? What’s next for Erica? We’ll have to wait for season 2. Sigh….

V Season 1, Episode 11.

Last night I learnt that next week will be the season finale. Somehow I’m a little thankful that the season is coming to an end. Anna’s daughter Lisa is found all beaten up and abandoned somewhere and sent to a hospital. From the previous episode, we all know that it was Anna who did it. Luckily word got to Erika that it was not the fifth column who attacked Lisa. Anna’s evil plans are about to materialize any time soon. There might be some hope against the Vs. They found a scientist who knows how to create a virus on lizards. These Vs are probably scared because they’ve been killing all such lizard scientists. Last night, the last surviving scientist got accused of attacked Lisa. It’s all part of the Vs plan to eliminate this scientist. Erica managed to pocket some of his experiment specimen before FBI took him away. Kyle is also working behind Erica’s back. It was he who stole the scientist hard drive to give it to Marcus (Anna’s right hand man). If Marcus knows that Kyle is working for the fifth column, does this mean that Anna is aware of Erica’s agenda? I wonder how the next episode will end….

V Season 1 Episode 10

This is Cuchee, back with another review of V. Last night’s V was as bizarre as ever. Ericka, Ryan, Jack and Klye decide to shoot down a V space shuttle to prevent a tracker from coming to them. Anna manage to find out this plan and decide to set them up by putting some dead bodies on board the ship making them believe that they had shot down a ship filled with humans. Jack almost told on them to the FBI when he was stricken with guilt about killing people. Luckily, Ericka managed to figure out that Vs tricked them … Anna beats up her own daughter because she told Tyler not to come on the live abroad program. She has developed human feelings and doesn’t want Tyler to suffer like the other humans…. Vs have also put one of their own in the FBI unit. Maybe Anna already knows that there is a leak in the FBI somewhere…the suspense goes on till the next episode…

V Season 1, Episode 9.

Last night’s V was scarier as usual. Valerie checks into a V medical center and boy, that was a wrong move. The Vs are now alerted that there is a fetus who is half V and half human out there and they want to kill it. Ryan manages to get Valerie away but it is too late. Anna sends a V soldier to look for them. Meanwhile Ryan goes on the run with Valerie. He takes along his V doctor friend to the house of two 5th column friends. Sadly, the V soldier kills his two friends and they have to run again. Valerie is still mad with Ryan for not telling her the truth so she doesn’t want him to follow her. She now wants to travel alone with the good v doctor on her own. Ryan has no choice but to leave her.

Remember the human who works for the Vs? We learn why he joined the Vs’ side. His daughter was paralyzed in an accident and the Vs helped him so he is indebted to them which is why he kills for the Vs. When he shows his loyalty for the Vs by refusing to tell Ericka and her friends what he knows, they leave him with Kyle who will do God-knows-what to him. Kyle is a merciless guy. We are left guessing because the scene ended there.

Anna has plans for Tyler to go on her live aboard program. She has big plans to use him. Tyler is all in for it but he knows his mother will not approve. So Anna sends her daughter Lisa to talk to Erica but…now that Lisa has developed some emotions, she feels for Erica so she tells Tyler to listen to his mother. When she gets back, she convinces her mother to delay getting Tyler on the program too. Maybe Lisa will help the 5th column one day? Hmmmm…

Glee Season 1, Episode 22.

Yo this is Cuchee the Couch potato again. Last night, I saw the last episode of Glee and I found the show a bit emotional. The theme seems to be about second chances. It was New Directions versus Vocal Adrenaline at the Regionals – an inter-school choir competition. I know this is only a show and there’ll be season 2 but I actually felt my heart crashing against my ribcage as the judges read out the verdict of the winner for the Regionals. There were so many obstacles in the way. Sue was one of the judges and she’s a major threat to the club but….she’ll surprise us at the end of the episode. The judges actually voted for Vocal Adrenaline because they have better costumes? Huh? Yeah… how could they?....actually both groups were good… the Glee club actually thought that this was the end. They sang a tribute to their teacher who made them who they are in the glee. I don’t know if it was PMS or what, I was so moved by their singing actually. Hahaha….then we see Sue Sylvester standing in the background looking like she cared. Ha! She actually has a heart after all!! Later we learn that she spoke to the principal to give Glee another year…and she had actually voted for New Directions at the regionals but she was outnumbered by the rest of the judges….but the Glee club gets a second chance to exist thanks to her. Hooray! (I already expected to see them in season 2).

Quinn will also give birth to her baby at this episode. Her mother wants a second chance with her and she wants Quinn to move back in with her. Her dad was kicked out of the house for having an affair. Oh, the interesting thing about Quinn in this show is ….I noticed that no matter how pregnant Quinn is, she still managed to dance and hiphop around in the past few episodes. Hahaha! She even fitted so well into her costumes. Hahaha!

And now back to my thoughts on the show…Rachel’s mom, the choir master (shall we call her that?) for Vocal Adrenaline wants a second chance to have a family. She felt she missed out so much when she left Rachel years ago so she decides to adopt Quinn’s baby. Quinn has a second chance to get on with her life now that her pregnancy is over. Will she live her next year of high school better and be more responsible? We’ll find out in season 2 when I get to watch it. I was so sad that this season has come to an end and I can’t wait for season 2 to come on air. Next week, they’ll be showing The Samurai Girl. I’m not sure if I’ll follow that program….let’s see how it goes. Ok, it’s time to sign off till my next review. Chaoz! Mooooo!

V Season 1 Episode 8

Hi, This is Cuchee the Couch Potato with my review on last night’s episode of V. I think as the show progresses each week, the story gets scarier and scarier. I really cannot guess where is the storyline heading as at this point.

Anna has an agenda and we still don’t know what it is but we definitely know that her plans are evil. She shares Blue energy with the humans by helping out at a disaster. (Ahhhhh!) Luckily one of the politicians (a UN Secretary General) doesn’t trust her. (phew) Maybe he knows something about the Vs and can help the 5th Column members in the future. But the humans still accept the blue energy anyway and there’s nothing this politician can do for now. (Ahhhhh!) But there is still hope since this guy is suspicious (Phew)

Tyler who is angry with his parents for lying to him goes to the ship to look for Lisa and they ….get in the act of procreating.(Ahhhhh!). He’s only 17 years old! (Ahhhhhh!) And she’s an alien. (Ahhhhh!) If she gets pregnant, will she be the mother of a freak? (Ahhhhh!) Will this freak help the humans (phew) or the aliens? (Ahhhhh!)

Lisa takes the emotional test and fails. Joshua contemplates whether to get her to join the fifth column (Ahhhhh!) but…his friend says don’t trust her as she is Anna’s daughter . (Phew!)But Joshua helps her by lying to her mother that she has passed the test. He tells her that she has to return this favour to him in the future.

The Ericka, Jack, Ryan and Kyle try to prevent the Vs from getting hold of the Fifth column member’s names and address. In the process they catch a guy who is human and works for the Vs. (Ahhhhhh!)

And Chad, the silly news reporter shows his loyalty to Anna and agrees to put the fifth column to an end with his news reporting. (AHhhhhhh!)

Till the next review. (AHhhhhhhh!) This is CUchee signing off from under the couch.

V Season 1 Episode 7

Hi This is Cuchee the Couch Potato back with another review of V. Last night’s episode of V was pretty scary. Poor Georgie was tortured by the Vs. I’m not sure if the V had meant to keep him alive to get more information out of him for later or did they know he was going to die on his own. In his last moments, he asked to speak to his resistance friends and Father Jack on the walkie-talkie-pearl-thingy to ask for his blessing before asking Joshua to inject with this scissor-thing to help him die faster. It was sad. This is also an episode in which we find out some secrets of the main characters. We learn of John May’s real fate and Ryan’s secret of what he knows about John May. His girlfriend Valerie will find out that Ryan has a secret identity. She’ll disappear and God knows where she went to. Tyler will find out that his father may not really be his father after all. He’ll confront Erika and storm off. Does Ericka have anymore secrets? Could the blood test be a mistake? I’ve feeling there is something deeper than what we know of Erika and her ex-husband. What if she doesn’t know that he is also part of the 5th Column? (This is just my personal guess). Well who knows where this story is taking us. I thought last night’s show was a little shorter than usual. I’m not sure if I was beginning to get hooked to story or was the episode just short? Hmmm…anyway, this Cuchee signing off as guest blogger for Fragments. Till the next episode of V. Ciaoz!

Glee Season 1, Episode 21

I’m Cuchee the Couch Potato, guest blogger for Fragments and I’m back with review of last night’s episode of Glee.   The main theme of this episode seems to be about anger.  Yeah, most of them were dealing with anger issues last night and how to get even with their source of anger. I thought it was absolutely hilarious to see how Will get even with Sue by pretending to have a thing for her. And gasp! She actually fell for it. It was so comical.  Sue has so many trophies in her house….wow, she’s like a robot who only wants to win and she doesn’t care about anyone else. Jesse, the traitor has broken up with Rachel and transferred back to his school. Gosh I hate the way he took out his anger with Rachel. Vocal Adrenaline took their anger out with New Directions through dance moves and their songs to make them feel lousy. Quinn takes her anger out through a funk song about unwed mothers. Mercedes also challenges Quinn with her own version of funk.  I think this is the second last episode before the season because the Regional’s the following episode. I wonder what is this sectional and regional thing about. It looks like an inter-school competition that is done regularly among the high schools. I’m not so familiar with the US education system, you see. Anyway, I think the story should end happily with New Directions winning the prize…we’ll see about that in the next episode.  Till then, this is Cuchee signing off.

V - Season 1, Episode 6.

I’m Cuchee the guest blogger for Fragments and I’m back with another review of last night’s episode of “V”. Poor Georgie was captured by the Vs when he went up the mother ship thinking that Ryan was in trouble. Gosh, what made him do that? He didn’t have any idea how to deal with the Vs. That was like suicidal, don’t you think? Oh and we meet Ericka’s husband for the first time. They’re aren’t telling us why they broke up and what sort of past she has, but I bet the writers wrote those scenes on purpose just to get us hooked to the story. What is it about Ericka’s past that she wants to hide? And Anna knows that the fifth column is getting stronger so she devised a scheme to pick out the traitors in her ship. There is this part that I don’t quite understand. At the last part when she asked all her suspects to swallow a pill that will turn them into flames, only one guy was left and he was identified as a member of the Fifth column. Those who were willing to die for her were deemed as “not traitors”. That poor guy who didn’t swallow the pill was ordered to be skinned. I think since he was going to face death anyway, he should have just swallowed the damned pill! Which would have been better huh? To turn to immediate flames or skinned? Yikes!

Ryan slipped something into Valerie’s drink from the ship. I wonder what that is and what does it do. According to Joshua, once that is given to a human, there is no turning back. Her tummy moved in a funny way while she was sleeping. Another hook to keep us watching this program….Good one there but gross! I bet this is to keep viewers hanging on to find out what will become of the baby.

Ok, I’m Cuchee signing off again. Wait for my next review on “V”. Ciao!

Glee Season 1, Episode 20.

Hello. This is Cuchee the couch potato, guest blogger for Fragments, back with another review of last night’s episode of Glee. The common theme for last night’s episode seemed to be about ‘Being yourself’. Mooooo! That’s right. Now that’s something I can identify with. Sometimes I forget I’m just cow and not human and that cows should be leading a normal life out there in the fields chomping grass and all. But in this city area? No way.

Ok, back to the show, Tina has trouble being herself when her school principal tells her that she can’t stick to her gothic style of dressing. Finn has trouble with Kurt being himself when he has to share a room with him because Kurt is gay. And Rachel finally meets her mother Shelby who has trouble being a normal mom because she has never been a mom to anyone. I guess the moral of the story is….it is easier to express yourself when you are yourself and not somebody else. And perhaps….to not to be superficial and pretend to be somebody else that you’re not because it shows how insecure you really are. Ahh….that reminds me of somebody I know who likes putting on a fake accent with a lot of exaggerated mama-drama attention. Hmm, maybe I should get this person to watch this episode of Glee… Oh by the way, they had to sing a few Lady Gaga songs in this episode. It was so cool! I loved it especially the song “Bad Romance”.

Glee Season 1, Episode 19.

Yo, my name is Cuchee the couch potato and I’m a guest blogger taking over the section on reviews for some TV shows. What? You’re surprised to see a cow like me writing a review instead of the usual writer Mudpie? Well dig this. I’m a talented and educated cow, okay. If this goes well, you’ll be seeing a lot of me mooing around here on TV shows and maybe even Movies too.

Ok and now for the review. Last night’s episode on Glee was about Dreams. Mr Will Shuester meets his high school rival, Bryan Ryan (were the writers being funny when they created this character’s name?) from his days as a Glee club member. Bryan Ryan’s dream was to go into Broadway but he never made it so he ventured into a string of some businesses. He is now back as a member of the board of school directors and he wants to crush the Glee club. Oh my, when the 2 of them sing together, they’re good! Will Schuester can really hit the high notes man! And wait a minute…Sue Sylvester went to the same audition as Shuester and Ryan? We all know that she hates the Glee club and is always scheming to crush the club. But deep inside, she is really a fan of music and the performing arts….well that’s what is seems to me.

Artie has to face the reality that he will never be able to accomplish his dream of walking and dancing again. He knows that he has to be realistic and focus on dreams that he can work on. Oh and Tina has the hots for him too. Meanwhile, we also learn that Rachel’s dream is to meet her mother who left her after she was born. We find out who her real mother is and now I wonder if Jesse really has feelings for Rachel at all. We just know that he was planted into the Glee club by her mother to deliver that tape to Rachel. And gosh, does Rachel’s mother really look like her! I mean…they look like real life blood relatives! I checked the net and nope they are not related in real life, just reel life. They’re both actresses with very similar backgrounds. They do make a perfect mother-daughter duo though, don’t you think?

This reminds me of my calf days in a farm. My dream was to become a Broadway cow in New York…but look at me now. I’m just a couch potato writing reviews for TV and movies….sigh. Ok, enough about me. Till the next review. This is Cuchee signing off as a guest blogger. Moooooo! Oops, I’m mean Ciao!

Review: V Season 1 Episode 5

I’ve been following this series for a couple of weeks now. V is a science fiction TV show about Aliens (V) who seemingly come to earth in peace but actually have a sinister agenda in their plans, possibly to overtake the world? We don’t really quite know what the aliens are up to at this moment but they appear to be very smart as they try to build diplomatic ties with the humans by offering to share their advance technology and medical expertise in curing diseases that humans have not found a cure for.

Among their alien species, there is a group of good aliens known as the fifth column (I wonder why they picked this name) who want to prevent the bad aliens from achieving their evil agenda. They are on the human’s side. Isn’t that great? Meanwhile some of the humans have formed a resistance group to brace themselves for the V’s agenda and maybe save the world from their evil plans.

Ok now for the main plot of last night’s show. Erica the FBI agent is attacked by a V at her home but she manages to put that V down after a fight. Jack the priest is not so lucky, he gets stabbed by the same V guy in his church and he is sent to a V centre for treatment by another priest who probably is on the side of the Vs. The V doctors cure him but he is injected with a serum that the Vs use as a tracking device on humans. Fortunately, Georgie retrieves him from the center but we don’t know how Georgie gets to him at the centre at all.

Tyler who is Erica’s son refuses to come home. Both Anna and Lisa are actually going through his memories for own their evil agenda and Tyler of course doesn’t know that. Erica is worried sick when her son doesn’t come home and she knows he is on the mothership of the Vs. Ryan also has a conflict to deal with. His girlfriend is pregnant with his child. She doesn’t know he is not human and her pregnancy is strangely accelerating at an unusual rate. Ryan is worried but he can’t tell her he is not human yet. (oh no what will happen then?).

And Erica has more to worry about. She and her resistance group were earlier at the warehouse which they had exploded to prevent supplies of syringes from reaching the V’s medical. They already know that the aliens are up to something with syringes. When she gets back to work at the FBI office, she has to play the role of the dutiful agent who is on the side of the Vs. The FBI at this moment do not know that the V’s are bad. The Vs tell her they have very advance technology and they are able to tell who blew up the warehouse in a few minutes. Just when we thought they were going to find out it was Erica’s group (watch the suspense and Erica’s face), the computer retrieves a fingerprint of someone else called Kyle who is a dangerous mercenary. Strange, they never get find it out it was Erica and her group at all. Shouldn’t there be more than one fingerprint? Erica and her resistance group then get to Kyle first before the FBI does. They recruit him to join their resistance group because he could help them fight against the Vs….Oh…and Anna decides to breed her own army by mating with a soldier. The mating process looked weird and scary. I’m not sure if it was because our local TV station had applied some censorship. It ended with a scene of her turning around looking lashing out like a snake or reptile....it was quick one so I was left in suspense over what was that…..there…that’s as far as the show went…we have to watch the next episode to find out more.

Check out the DVD from Amazon if you are interested in Sci-fi shows:

Review: Glee Season 1, Episode 18

Glee is one of my favourite TV shows at the moment. Sometimes I wish I could be one of them even though I’m one generation too late from where they are. Sigh…. Anyway, the one thing I notice about Glee is the diverse background of the Glee club members. They have Whites, Blacks, Jews, Asians, Gays, Crippled, Bad boys, Nerds, Geeks, Popular cheerleaders, Football stars… The Glee Club represents everyone out there, no matter what size, colour and make. Music is a universal language.

Every week in Glee, I notice there is a common theme in the storyline. In last night’s episode, some of the characters had to deal with losing touch with something that they are familiar with or treasure. Rachel loses her singing voice due to a throat infection. This makes her feel vulnerable because singing is the only thing she is good at. Puk loses his Mohawk haircut and that makes him feel less tough and mean. Kurt thinks he is losing his dad when he sees his dad bonding with Finn. We also meet Finn’s friend who had lost his mobility when he became paralyzed from an accident. Finn is also dealing with his own lost. Finn has lost Rachel to Jesse but he is such a nice guy to accompany Rachel to see a doctor. He also helped Rachel deal with her vulnerably when he takes her to meet his paralyzed friend. Isn’t he such a nice chap? As usual, the story will end happily with Rachel getting back her singing voice. The rest of the characters will also overcome their obstacles. It’s a cool show. You should watch it even if you’re not a teenager anymore. They have great songs in there too.
