Twilight Movie Review

The movie was released in the Philippines on the 26th of November. It stars Robert Pattinson as Edward and Kristen Stewart as Bella. it is based on the book by Stephanie Meyer of the same title.

At the first flick, when Bella's voice narrated the preface of the book, sudden rush of hold-tight-to-your-seat was emanated. There was instant feel of mistiness and mystery. Of course, this is a dark romance not that mushy love story all about love. duh!

The casting was way too cool. But the acting, I say not so.

The Edward in the movie seems unsure, nervous and awkward. The book's Edward is confident, perfect and cool. But he well portrayed Edward's struggle of being near Bella's scent. Besides, who could better portray considering the face, the book's Edward was devastatingly beautiful. The actor kept up with that advantage.

I can't feel the x-factor that she's in love with Edward. I mean, to those people who watched the movie yet not read the book, will wonder why she started hanging out with him after she's learned he's a vampire. There were still more on the book on how she dreamed of Edward every night, on how she really loved him in spite of his vampireness and blah, blah, blah. Okay, shut up.

The music score was great. They laid it down to every scene perfectly. Bella's Lullaby was played often in the course of the movie and that was pleasant. The production company who produced this movie obviously did not put up a gallant budget on this one to the extent that there were very obvious laps even an ordinary twilight reader like me could notice. Nevertheless, I like the movie. It's loyal to the book and it lives up to its events. It was like reading the book once again.

Jacob! My favorite character was also fit for the role. I could not wait for the next movies because of him. I anticipate Jacob struggling for Bella's love and his pain of being a werewolf. His character really puts me on my feet from the main characters' almost happy love story.

And Alice! How could i forgot my most favorite character! So beautiful, graceful and 'optimistic'. The actress was meant for the role. I like her spiky black hair and her voice, always an octave higher and seemingly music to the ears.

I like the scene where the Cullens played baseball in the clearing because the background music was my one of my favorite of the soundtracks, Supermassive Black Hole by Muse. Next would be the one where Bella first rode with Edward on his Volvo towards school. Ugh and with those shades on Edward! Who could resist?? Lucky Kristen Stewart. I mean Bella. Another is the prom where they danced the song Flightless Bird by Iron and Wine. Nice song and nice scene. Truthfully, it was made more magical when Edward carried Bella on her waist and put his toes on his feet. Bella could not dance aside from having two left feet but also because her left foot was injured by James, the antagonist.

This movie isn't just for the book readers; it's also for those who want to get a dose of Twilight's brand of heroin. Romance+Suspense=Twilight. Go!

Can't wait for the next movie NEW MOON!!!
