Yoga: The Physical Benefits of the Tree Pose (Vrksasana)

This pose definitely improves your balance. This is very important as you get older. One of the reasons why old people tend to fall and suffer from fractures is because they are no longer responsive enough to stop their fall by regaining their balance in time. This pose will train your mind to stay in balance. It also remedies flat feet and strengthens the whole leg muscles. Your spine will be lengthened and your blood circulation will be improved. Your posture will also be improved.
